JAM Architects have been practicing for 8 years and the main partners John and Murdoch between them have over 30 years experience working in the residential sector. JAM currently specialize in all types of residential architecture, from small extensions and alterations to existing homes to new build dwellings and on to master-planning large developments.

The practice has a contemporary design style and we focus on creating dramatic spaces which make the most of available light to give our clients the living environment that they aspire to. Much of our existing housing stock in Scotland is not suited to modern family living and we have developed a variety of solutions to adapt and change our clients houses to provide a more open and connected environment. We are comfortable working with all of the main housing forms that are commonly found across Scotland. Be it a mid-terrace house, a bungalow or an Edwardian villa we pride ourselves on developing intelligent solutions to our client’s needs.

We work closely with our clients in developing their projects from their initial ambitions into a final design that achieves the outcome they originally intended, and we feel that we are successful in balancing design ambition with budget. It is important to us that at the end of the process the clients are confident that they genuinely have got ‘their’ building and have not had a building imposed upon them by the architect.

We are ARB registered and can offer the full range of architectural services tailored to our client’s requirements. From an initial design consultation to discuss feasibility right through to contract administration and inspections of the construction stage please see our “PROCESS” section for further details.
