The Bank House Development

The site for this project was within the grounds of a B Listed red sandstone villa in the small village of Auchenblae near Aberdeen. The brief was to develop part of the grounds to create 2 bespoke family homes and one additional home for our client to live.

The design for each of the two housetypes utilises large areas of glazing to the rear of the homes to take adavantage of their south facing aspect and the surrounding views. Whereas the rear elevations are fairly contemporary in their aesthetic, the street elevations are more traditional utilising similar detailing to the main house; with the use of bay windows, door canopies, full height windows and stone. Internally the homes are fairly contemporary in design.

The three bedroom housetype 1 has a large open plan kitchen / dining & family room with a central feature staircase, within a double height space, and leading to the first floor gallery. The master bedroom contains a paris balcony providing views of the surrounding landscape, and a feature fully glazed wall overlooking the family room. In addition to this is also complemented by its own ensuite and dressing room.

Housetype 2 is a four bedroom property with a large open plan family room and kitchen with direct access to a fully glazed sunroom to the rear of the home. The entrance hallway is designed as a double height space with a circulation gallery on the first floor and also has a feature staircase located against a fully glazed wall providing views of the surrounding landscape. This property also benefits from a master bedroom with and ensuite and dressing room.
